Louisiana LawHelp - Your Online Guide To Free Legal Help.

LawHelp.Org

LawHelp.Org is an online resource for people living on low-incomes and the legal organizations that serve them. LawHelp.org provides referrals to local legal aid and public interest law offices, basic information about legal rights, self-help information, court information, links to social service agencies, and more.  Southeast Louisiana Legal Services Corporation administers Louisiana's LawHelp Project, which is made possible by funding from Legal Services Corporation and the Louisiana Bar Foundation.

Southeast Louisiana Legal Services (SLLS)

SLLS is a non-profit law office which has served low-income community residents since 1979.  SLLS provides free services to eligible people through its staff and volunteer attorneys.  SLLS works with community groups and social service agencies to give up-to-date information about legal issues affecting the poor in Louisiana.  SLLS also collaborates with other legal advocacy organizations around the state, and nationally, in litigation and educational efforts to protect the legal rights of the poor and to improve their lives.

Legal Services Corporation (LSC)

LSC is a private, non-profit corporation established by Congress to seek to ensure equal access to justice under the law for all Americans by providing civil legal assistance to those who otherwise would be unable to afford it. LSC was created in 1974 with bipartisan congressional sponsorship and the support of the Nixon administration, and is funded through congressional appropriation.

Louisiana Bar Foundation (LBF)
LBF is a non-profit organization that has successfully improved the quality of life in communities throughout Louisiana. LBF works to address the unrealized legal needs of indigent citizens, provide a basic understanding of the law, and assist with improvements to the justice system.  LBF provides funding for free legal services through attorneys and paralegals in many practice areas of the law.

Pro Bono Net

Pro Bono Net is a national, nonprofit organization that works in close partnership with nonprofit legal organizations across the country to increase access to justice for poor and moderate-income people and other vulnerable populations. Founded in 1998, Pro Bono Net works to (i) support the innovative and effective use of technology by the nonprofit legal sector, (ii) increase participation by volunteers, and (iii) facilitate collaborations among nonprofit legal organizations and advocates working on similar issues or in the same region.
