What is LiveHelp?
LiveHelp lets you "talk" online with a trained Web site navigator, who can help you find the information you are looking for on the LawHelp.org/LA Web site. This is also called "chatting," or "instant messaging."
Please note: The LiveHelp navigator cannot call, write or e-mail more information. If you need help finding more information after your LiveHelp chat, click on LiveHelp again to start a new session.
How does LiveHelp work?
Click on the LiveHelp picture on your screen.
You will get a message that asks if you agree to the terms of using LiveHelp. Type in your answer and press "Send."
You "talk" with the helper (navigator) on the other end by typing in a question to ask for help finding information.
The navigator answers by typing a response.
The navigator may also type a response with a link to a part of the LawHelp.org/LA Web site. This link may have the information you are looking for. The navigator may also type in a response with a copy of a Web page with information that may help you.
Who can use LiveHelp? Does it cost anything?
LiveHelp is available to anyone who needs help with looking for information on LawHelp.org/LA. LiveHelp is free!
What can I ask when using LiveHelp?
You can ask the navigator questions that help you find information on the LawHelp.org/LA site. LiveHelp and its navigators cannot give legal advice.
LiveHelp does not give information about criminal law. The site has some employment law information concerning criminal records, and there is some family law information about the juvenile justice system. LiveHelp can only help you find information about the law and your legal rights. The LiveHelp navigator for LawHelp.org/LA on the other end cannot tell you how to solve your legal problem. The LiveHelp navigator cannot give out legal advice.
The LiveHelp person on the other end can only point you to information about common legal issues, such as divorce, parenting plans, landlord and tenant issues, and disability benefits and more.
Do not give the LiveHelp navigator any confidential information.
You do not have any attorney-client relationship with the LiveHelp navigator. Using LiveHelp does not create any attorney-client relationship.
Someone who is on the other side of your legal problem may also contact LiveHelp for information, and LiveHelp navigators may also help that person find information on the site.
Do I have to give LiveHelp information about me?
No. You don't have to give LiveHelp any information about yourself. Again, you should not give out any confidential information about yourself.
There is a survey at the end of the session that you can fill out online if you want to help LiveHelp give better service.

Is LiveHelp Section 508 compliant?
LiveHelp uses LivePerson's Timpani software, which meets all current guidelines for compliance with Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act (29 U.S.C.-794d) and ADA Guidelines.
The LivePerson software is designed to work with standard assistive technology hardware (such as specialty keyboards and Braille readers) as well as operating system technologies (such as stickykeys and mousekeys.)

Having trouble using LiveHelp?
You don't need to install any software or plug-ins to use LiveHelp. You do need an Internet connection and one of the following Web browsers:
For Windows: Internet Explorer 5.5 and 6.0, Firefox 1.0.7 and Netscape 4.7 and onwards
For Apple Mac users: Internet Explorer 5.1, Netscape 4.7, Firefox 1.0.7 and Safari 1.0 v. 85 and onwards.
You must have Java / JavaScript enabled on your browser to use LiveHelp.
Your privacy is important to us.
What information does LiveHelp collect? LiveHelp collects information, such as -- information about the computer, browser, and Internet Service Provider that you use, -- the date and time when you visit, and -- the pages on LawHelp.org/LA that you visit.
Every chat is recorded by Timpani, the software that we use. Timpani is owned by LivePerson ( http://www.liveperson.com/).
LivePerson has a privacy policy that tells you what information they collect and how it is used. For further information about the LivePerson Privacy Policy, see http://www.liveperson.com/help/privacy.asp.
How do you use the information that you collect? We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to others. LiveHelp staff may use the information -- to train Web site specialists, -- to evaluate LiveHelp, -- to report on the project's success, and -- to perform other administrative tasks.
Does LiveHelp share the information we collect online? No, we do not share any information about you unless we are required by law to share.
